Ferta-Gyp®
is a convenient way to apply gypsum (calcium sulphate) to soil. The
granule is a consistent size to allow accurate application rates
through seeders, or broadcasted over the soil surface without risk of
nutrient loss by wind.
Ferta-Gyp® is manufactured from premium grade natural gypsum, offering a quick response as well as lasting supply of calcium sulphate from the larger granules. |

| Calcium - The Solution | ||||||
 Calcium
is required by plants for the proper functioning of growing points, root
and shoot development, increasing the strength of the plant. Many
Australian soil types exhibit low levels of exchangeable calcium. These
soils can also have high levels of two other cations, being sodium
and/or magnesium, when in excess are detrimental to the soil structure.
Calcium is lost from soils through crop removal, leaching and soil
erosion. Low levels of calcium can limit root growth, and hence moisture
and nutrient uptake.
It is very important for optimum plant
growth and correct soil structure to have a level of calcium much higher
than sodium and magnesium. The most economical way to increase the level
of calcium in soil is to apply a quality gypsum product. |

| Sulphur - Essential |

| The sulphur in Ferta-Gyp® is in the form of sulphate, readily available for plant uptake. Sulphur is an element required for healthy plant growth and is necessary for the production of chlorophyll. Soil sulphur deficiency can be inherent or induced by the continued use of high nitrogen and phosphate fertilisers in an attempt to achieve high yields. Sulphur deficiency in canola and cereals for example, causes stunted growth, small pods or heads and subsequent yield loss. Sulphur is essential for nodule formulation of legumes to enhance nitrogen fixation, while a balance of soil nitrate and sulphate is necessary for seed formation in sensitive crops like canola.
